I used to run marathons and now I can barely get myself out my front door and into the Texas heat and humidity for a walk around the block.MiChalhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07618562854082945100noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-17761983.post-39921501969107973232007-09-25T08:27:00.000-05:002007-09-25T08:27:00.000-05:00sassy --i think good challenges are drinking enoug...sassy --

i think good challenges are drinking enough water, and walking extra steps (whether it's taking the stairs instead of the elevator, or parking three rows behind where you usually would).

one thing a trainer was careful to point out to me when i first started hitting the gym was that BMI is not always the right indicator, because it doesn't take into account body type -- he told me to have my fat percentage checked (which they do for free at the gym). i fall just shy of the "obese" range in BMI (i'm 5'3" and weigh 165), but my body fat percentage is below 15%, which puts me on low side of normal (since i started working out regularly almost two years ago, i've gained 3 pounds, but lost 4 percentage points on my body fat. i've also knocked three inches off my waist.)

hey...by the way, good luck with the employment transition. if we're in the same place for thanksgiving, you'll kindly let me take you out for a celebratory something-or-other.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
