Meme

I discovered this one over at Two Boys and an Angel.
What can I say, the tryptophan took away my creative juices.

1. Explain what ended your last relationship.
We didn't love each other anymore. I realized it. He didn't. I put up with essentially a roomate for a long time while trying to fix things. He was happy with status quo. I said screw that.

2. When was the last time you shaved?
This morning

3. What were you doing this morning at 8 a.m.?
Waiting for my Dad to arrive so we can drive to my grandmothers.

4. Are you any good at math?
Yes, sort of. I was forced to take accelerated courses in Junior High and I would cry when I did my homework because it was so hard.

5. Your prom night, what do you remember about it?
My date asked me to go steady with him. Oh, and I looked fabulous!

6. Do you have any famous ancestors?
No. But my step-mother is related to William Shakespeare's wife.

7. Have you had to take a loan out for school?
Yes and I just restarted paying them back.

8. Last thing received in the mail?
Four freaking telephone books. Two of which were identical. Let's kill a few trees shall we? WTF?

9. How many different beverages have you had today?
It's only 8am. Just water.

10. Do you ever leave messages on people's answering machines?
Yes. But I try to keep them brief. I usually don't succeed.

11. Who did you lose your CONCERT virginity to?
James Taylor. And he sang and he sang and he sang. We had to leave during his 3rd or 4th encore because we had a long drive home.

12. Do you draw your name in the sand when you go to the beach?
Yes.

13. What's the most painful dental procedure you've ever had?
Other than the time my dental hygenist (who was also my dance teacher) was bitching to my Mom about her ex-fiance who dumped her (who happened to be the dentist) while cleaning my teeth (let's just say it was a little rough), I'd have to say having my wisdom teeth removed. I opted not to be knocked out and then drove myself home. The pain killers made me vomit so I spent a lot of time on the couch whimpering, "I want my mommy." My "Mommy" happened to be on vacation.

14. What is out your back door?
My apartment has no back door. Much to Friendster Guys chagrine there are no readily accessible escape routes.

15. Any plans for Friday night?
Continuing to digest the two Thanksgiving meals I attended and hanging with FG.

16. Do you like what the ocean does to your hair?
Yes. It thickens it and even though it looks wild and crazy it looks like I have more of it. Plus, it means I've been at the beach and that is never a bad thing.

17. Have you ever received one of those big tins of 3 different popcorns?
Yes. And worse, after I quit grad school and was wandering aimlessly, I worked for a store that made the popcorn and the tins. Let's just say it wasn't the least caloric of my various jobs. You'd get some sweet, then some salty, then a different sweet, then cheesy. It was a never ending cycle.

18. Have you ever been to a planetarium?
Yes but it was a long time ago in a galaxy far away...

19. Do you re-use towels after you shower?
Hell yes. There's only so much laundry a girl can tolerate.

20. Some things you are excited about?
Christmas vacation
Figuring out where I'm going to go on my next vacation
Any vacation

21. What is your favorite flavor of Jell-O?
Blech. I don't like jello.

22. Describe your keychain.
I don't really have one unless you count the remote car starter and a few store discount cards (Pricechopper, CVS).

23. Where do you keep your change?
In a pocket in my purse. Also in a jar on my desk.

24. When was the last time you spoke in front of a large group of people?
Monday.

25. What kind of winter coat do you own?
A big, puffy, red down coat.

26. What was the weather like on your graduation day?
Freakin' hot and sunny. I had to be careful not to get a sun burn because I was getting married two days later. I didn't want a line delineating white and red across my forehead from the hat.

27. Do you sleep with the door to your room open or closed?
Open if I'm alone because I forget to close it, closed if FG is there. He always closes it.

Making Eye Babies

Colleges often have a lot of rules the students need to follow. After all, a bunch of 18-21 year olds can't really be expected to self-govern on their own, at least not 24/7, no matter how vehement they are that they can do just that. (I was 18-21 once myself so I know it's annoying to hear that. I don't mean all 18-21 year olds individually, I mean when they all get together in one place.) Then there are Christian Colleges which have more rules, often based on biblical teachings and moral dictates. Further down the spectrum is Bob Jones University* which considers the Christian colleges just too darn liberal so they piles on a bunch of morally based codes of behavior. Not to be outdone by the crazy liberal heathens at Bob Jones, Pensacola Christian College goes hog wild with the rules and moral imperatives and makes the Taliban look almost liberal. An article in the March 24th edition of the Chronicle of Higher Education explains some of the rules and regulations the stu

Gone by the wayside

I have no idea if anyone is reading this anymore. If you have been loyally checking back now and again I applaud you. At one point this blog was a therapeutic outlet for me. I'm glad to have a chronicle of my experiences during this time of my life. Now, however, instead of a creative outlet it's more of a nagging reminder that I should be posting and this girl does not need one more thing on her "To Do" list. I'd love for you to explore the archives if you so chose. If you have already done so, here's a brief update: Friendster Guy and I are still together and co-habitating. We are in domestic, but still unwedded, bliss (that status could be a post or two in and of itself, but, as I've just said, I'm done with that.) We're so domesticated we're in the market for granite countertops. We also just returned from an Aussie/New Zealand vacation and if 8 days in a tiny RV won't solidify (or destroy) a relationship nothing will. We're stronge

Addendum to Resolutions

I'm adding two things to my New Year's Resolutions - 5) Read more using this list as a guide: 1001 Books You Must Read Before You Die. I have no idea how many I've already read. I'll have to make a spreadsheet. You can do anything with a spreadsheet. Not that you should , but you can. 6) Get a massage every 6-8 weeks . This probably doesn't need an explanation. I had one for only the 3rd time this week. It's been at least 4 years since my last one. My gym has a spa attached to it and they had an intern doing free massages. Hello? Sign me up! Now that I've had one I'm wanting more. If I eat out less I might even be able to justify it. I wonder if I can write it off on my taxes?
