Happy New Year! Commence resolutions!

I started reading a book on the list - #529 - Catcher in the Rye.

I have preconceived notions about what "classic" books are about. So far, Catcher is not anything like what I thought it was going to be. Mostly, I thought it would be boring, you know, being an assigned book in school and all. So far, it's not. I suppose anything is better when it's not compulsory.

Note: I counted the number of books I've read on the list of 1000 and I come up with 54.

Happy New Year, SP.

You start 2008 with a new direction set in late 2007. It's really the best of all situations. You don't have to change anything for the new year, just keep the ship pointed in the new direction and enjoy the ride.

I look forward to reading about the trip.

I read Catcher in the Rye just about every year. It's a perfect novel, as far as I'm concerned. And every time I read it I notice something different. It was a completely different book the first time I read it after my almost-nervous breakdown of 1999 to 2000. Good luck. I hope you like it.

I might have read 25 off the list...might. The list does look like it has some great reads; I've got it bookmarked now.
